The Maine Coon cat, Lotus, is as big as a child and has a luxurious coat.
Maine Coon cats are naturally oversized
On social media, Lotus, a three-year-old Maine Coon cat, is often mistaken for a wild animal but has won the hearts of many.
His mom, Lindstein, shares, “Many think he looks like a mini lynx or a little lion.”
Lotus stands out with his luxurious coat and massive paws, yet he’s just a very large, lovable house cat.
Maine Coons are known for their impressive size, often weighing over 20 pounds as adults.
Lotus, at 22 pounds, is slightly larger than average, but some Maine Coons have reached 30 pounds or more.
According to Lindstein, Lotus’s size has even required special adjustments at home.
For instance, Lotus uses an extra-large storage bin as a litter box and travels in a dog crate instead of a typical cat carrier.
Lotus is friendly despite his imposing size
Lindstein shared that Lotus’s size surprised both humans and dogs.
She said: “Many people think he’s a dog at first glance.”
“He loves to sleep on the backrest of the house and sleep in bed [with us],” Lindstein said. “He is very kind, gentle and careful. He loves his family, likes to kiss. He often sleeps on his back, very relaxed!”
Luckily, Lotus’s personality matches his gentle appearance. He is friendly, affectionate, and loves everyone he meets.
Unlike most cats, Lotus enjoys wearing a harness and going for walks.
Lindstein allowed Lotus to explore scenic landscapes alongside his Maine Coon sister, Marion, in Sweden. These adventures delight their many fans on social media.
Lotus is not the only big-sized cat;
Khefir, another giant Maine Coon, also wins hearts.
Another oversized Maine Coon, Kefir, has captured attention for his incredible size.
Kefir, owned by Yulia Minina in Stary Oskol, Russia, weighs 27 pounds at less than two years old and is still growing.
Speaking to The Dodo, Yulia recalled buying Kefir as a kitten and being amazed by his transformation into a gentle giant.
Yulia said: ‘He not only grew up big in appearance, he is also very smart and always behaves calmly.
‘The look is generally like that of a person, and Kefir has a formidable appearance, but he is a very affectionate and modest child.’
Despite his imposing size, Kefir’s affectionate nature has earned him the nickname ‘gentle giant.
Visitors often mistake him for a dog due to his bulk and fluffy white coat.
Both Lotus and Kefir demonstrate the charm of Maine Coon cats.
While their size may be extraordinary, their affection and loyalty make them beloved family members.
These gained sizes may turn heads, but their gentle natures and loving personalities leave lasting impressions.
Whether cuddling with their owners or exploring the outdoors, these cats prove that bigger truly is better.
