Although the current official record holder is Flossie, a 28-year-old cat from Kent, Rosie remains cherished.

Rosie celebrated her 33rd birthday on June 1 this year, which equates to 152 in human years.

Rosie passed away this week in the hallway of her home, with Lila Brissett, 73, by her side.

Lila, who adopted Rosie as a kitten from a cat rescue in the 1990s, has been deeply affected by her loss.

“I miss her so much,” Lila shared, reflecting on the profound bond they shared.

Rosie’s early years and daily life

Rosie came into Lila’s life after her previous family realized their daughter was allergic to cats.

Lila, who had already rescued other animals, welcomed Rosie into her home.

Additionally, her mother was a grey ragdoll, giving Rosie her distinctive bushy tail, while her father was a ginger tom.

Living indoors exclusively with Lila in her ground-floor flat, Rosie enjoyed a consistent routine.

She was fed Purina One cat food daily, a preference that Lila humorously noted could lead to a bit of fuss if not adhered to.

Rosie’s daily activities revolved around eating, sleeping by the window, and using the litter tray.

This predictable schedule made her an endearing part of Lila’s life.

Lila described Rosie as a “character” whose presence was deeply ingrained in her daily routine.

“There’s no need for an alarm clock. All she does is eat, sleep, use the litter tray, and repeat,” Lila said.

Lila said previously: ‘She’s quite a character. Rosie sleeps by the window all day and, like clockwork, she will have some food and use the litter tray.

‘There’s no need for an alarm clock. All she does is eat, sleep, use the litter tray and repeat.

‘I often have to check if she’s still alive and breathing. I’m worried about the day she crosses over the rainbow bridge. She’ll leave a big void.

‘I’ll miss her when she goes. But I’ll never have her put down.’

She often worried about Rosie’s well-being and the day she would have to say goodbye.

Despite the inevitable sadness, Lila had always vowed never to have Rosie put down. This decision underscored the depth of her love and commitment to her cherished pet.

Rosie’s passing marks the end of a remarkable journey for one of the oldest cats known.

Her life, filled with love and companionship, is a testament to the bond between pets and their owners.

As Lila reflects on their time together, Rosie’s legacy as a beloved and resilient feline will be remembered fondly by those who knew her story.
