For five long years, the dog, Beaux Tox lived a life of neglect, but a compassionate act changed his fate.
This inspiring journey of healing and transformation reveals a tale of resilience and hope.
Beaux Tox was born with a facial deformity
Beaux Tox, born in Texas, had a facial deformity characterized by an unusually concave skull.
This condition caused his eyes to be unusually close together. The deformity resulted from limited space in the womb during his mother’s pregnancy, where she carried up to six puppies.
Fortunately, this deformity only affects Tox’s appearance and does not cause any other danger to its health or intelligence.
Tox was given away for free and kept captive in a man’s backyard for five years
Due to his unique appearance, Beaux Tox, originally named Lucky, was given away for free by breeders.
He was placed in the care of a man in Austin, Texas, who kept him in the backyard for five years. The dog endured harsh conditions: he had no comfortable bedding and was isolated from the man’s cats.
Lucky didn’t even have a comfortable bed and had to live alone in the backyard.
Because he was abandoned for a long time, Lucky was infected with ear mites, his whole body was covered with fleas and his body was skinny and weak.
A new hope emerges for Tox
Despite numerous local interventions, Lucky remained in his dire situation until his plight gained attention on social media.
Jamie Hulit, moved by Lucky’s condition, decided to adopt him. Hulit was undeterred by the dog’s appearance or health issues, stating, “I don’t care what he looks like or how sick he might be.”
Hulit went to pick up the dog and take it to the vet to be treated for skin conditions.
Hulit rescued Lucky and took him to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic in Kerrville, Texas.
There, vets discovered he had heartworm disease, a severe condition that posed a significant threat to his life.
Due to his frail state, Lucky required oxygen therapy for over a month, and at one point, his survival was uncertain.
The dog with a facial deformity resolutely fought, and a miracle came
With determination and extensive medical care, Lucky, now renamed Beaux Tox, began to recover.
Although he has hearing loss in his left ear and impaired vision in his right eye due to a previous infection, his health is gradually improving. He continues to improve and shows signs of recovery.
Beaux Tox gained weight, became more energetic, and showed signs of a brighter future.
Hulit invested in Beaux Tox’s health, stating, “I paid much money for his health certificate. But I am totally 100% OK with that. It was really worth it, knowing that he is now a happy, free guy.”
Six-year-old Beaux Tox is now living happily with his new owner, Hulit, his brother, Riley, a 13-year-old golden retriever, and several other dogs.
