Verma, a farmer in the village of Gondhia, Uttar Pradesh, India, had befriended and fed the primate.
After his friend died, the animal met Verma for the last time. It was a final farewell before he was laid to rest.
A special bond between monkey and Verma
Sudhir Verma, a member of the deceased’s family, shared that Chandanlal Verma spent his days in his fields. He often stayed in a nearby hut to protect his crops from animals.
During these times, he would share his food with the monkey, forging a unique bond between them.

In Sri Lanka, Peetambaram Rajan had a similar bond with a wild grey langur monkey, feeding it fruit and biscuits daily. Every day, the monkey would visit Rajan’s house and was generously given biscuits and fruit by the man.
According to media reports, the man in the clip who passed away is Peetambaram Rajan, 56 years old. Rajan died suddenly from an illness on October 17 at his home in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.
Rajan’s sudden death deeply saddened the monkey. When Rajan passed away, the monkey appeared at his funeral and gazed at his friend in the coffin.
