Tulsa Fire department warned of the incident

Andy Little, a public information officer for the Tulsa Fire Department, spoke out about the risks posed by lithium-ion batteries. which are commonly found in many households.

“Lithium-ion batteries store a significant amount of energy in a compact space,” Little explained. “However, when this energy is released uncontrollably, it can generate heat, flammable and toxic gases, and even lead to explosions.”

According to Little, these batteries can become hazardous for various reasons, including physical damage, overcharging, or exposure to heat.

It is crucial that you adhere to manufacturer guidelines when using lithium-ion batteries, only using approved chargers and storing them out of reach of children and pets.”

To further safeguard your home, ensure that batteries are stored in a cool, dry place, and consider investing in fire-resistant battery storage containers.

Pet owners should also be mindful of where they leave electronic devices and accessories.
