Nola’s jumping ability shocked her family
Initially, the Marquettes struggled to believe that Nola could jump over the fence. They searched for holes in the yard, but found nothing. After moving to a new home in Syracuse, Nola’s impressive skills became undeniable when neighbors reported seeing her jumping onto the fence.
Nola’s climbing isn’t an attempt to escape; she enjoys the view from atop the fence. She usually climbs a tree to help her reach the top. Her daily routine involves sprinting, checking out the neighborhood, and climbing the fence multiple times.
The adoption story of Nola
The Marquettes adopted Nola from North Country Pet Adoptions in 2018. After fostering her for months, they fell in love with her and made her a permanent part of the family. Despite being blind in one eye, Nola quickly adjusted to her new home.
Through a DNA test, the Marquettes discovered that Nola is 26% Treeing Walker Coonhound. This breed is known for its ability to climb trees, which likely explains Nola’s natural climbing talent.
Toby, the Marquettes’ other rescue dog, doesn’t have Nola’s climbing abilities. However, he stays close to Nola and watches her perform her stunts. He tries to replicate her moves but can only get his front paws on the fence.
When not climbing, Nola enjoys relaxing inside, getting attention, and snacking on bell peppers and carrots. She also loves spending time with her family and her best friend, Toby.
Nola’s remarkable climbing skills and fun-loving personality have made her a beloved figure in her neighborhood and online.
