In China, a visitor was left creeped out after spotting a fish with a human-like face in a lake, which gained significant attention on social media.
A rare fish with a human-like face was spotted
In a village near Kunming in southern China, a visitor was stunned after spotting a fish with a ‘human face’ in the lake and recorded a video capturing an eerie carp.
She then shared a video on Weibo – a Chinese social media platform, numerous were shocked and understandably spooked by human face fish.
The video was originally posted on Weibo in 2019; however, it resurfaced after a user, @Nameless_Hero8, shared it on Reddit, leaving numerous people creeped out.
The video has the caption: “a carp fish with a “human face””
The footage showed the fish swimming to the lake’s edge and head above the surface of the water.
The fish was spotted to have a dark head that looked like eyes, two vertical lines akin to nostrils, and a horizontal line mimicking a mouth. It is heard as a woman in the video exclaims, ‘The fish has turned into a fairy.
The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media
Most viewers reacted with alarm to this unusual creature. One person commented that it was frightening, while another expressed shock at the idea of anyone daring to eat such a fish with a human-like face.
One person said: That’s Seaman.

These two fish lived in a pond behind a 64-year-old man’s house, where they have been kept since 1986. Both fish measure nearly 1 meter in length and have very large eyes.
“In recent years, my fish have increasingly resembled humans,” said the owner. “Both fish being female makes it difficult for them to breed and reproduce.”
