Suddenly, a loud splash interrupted the peaceful moment. A 32-year-old woman had jumped into the polar bear enclosure, making her way toward the animals.
She had scaled the three-foot perimeter wall and plunged into the icy water below, to the horror of onlookers.

Then, the woman was about to pay a heavy price for her reckless decision. The bear lunged at her, biting her neck. The intensity of the predator’s attack was visible on her contorted face. Witnesses were horrified, believing they were about to witness a deadly mauling.
The rescue team made efforts to save the woman’s life.
The situation grew more dangerous when the woman made a frantic attempt to escape before the bears attacked.

After several attempts, the woman was finally pulled to safety using a life ring.
Zoo keepers kept the bears at bay with more food as the woman was hoisted to safety.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious wounds to her arms, back, and legs.
While her injuries were significant, she was lucky to survive. Zoo biologist Heiner Klos remarked that the situation could have been far worse. “Our alarm system worked. Otherwise, things would have turned out badly for the woman.”
