In the footage, the tiny eyes frog had somehow navigated the outdoor piping and settled into the overflow hole of their sink. He was quite cozy and seemed reluctant to leave his new home.

Cathy was the first to notice him. “My wife screamed when she saw the head poking through the overflow hole,” Brian told The Dodo.

They believed the frog entered their plumbing through a toilet vent on their roof, which is common in Florida.

At first, Brian and Cathy thought the frog might be stuck. However, as days went by, they found evidence that he had been coming and going. The couple tried their best to coax him out of the sink.

Brian and Cathy shared their story about the frog, whom they affectionately named Sinkfrog, on social media. His sink-dwelling lifestyle quickly went viral, but Sinkfrog refused to leave.

“We needed to clear the sink for our guest,” Brian said. “My wife is an animal lover and didn’t want to hurt Sinkfrog.”

After several weeks, Sinkfrog finally ventured out into full view. It took about six weeks, but Brian and Cathy were able to identify him as a Cuban tree frog, an invasive species in Florida. This realization led to a difficult decision.

“We had to either euthanize or keep Sinkfrog,” Brian said. They decided to keep him.

The couple purchased a large terrarium for Sinkfrog. By this time, he had become more than just a frog living in their sink.

“Once we freed Sinkfrog, we observed and interacted with him, building a bond,” Brian shared. “Now, he’s living large.”

After spending so long with Sinkfrog in their sink, it’s been hard for them to imagine him anywhere else. “I still look into that hole every time I go into that bathroom, looking for a little head,” Brian admitted. “Then I remember Sinkfrog is living large in his new terrarium.”
